• Fasting can be either Nirjala (without water) or Phalahar (with fruits and milk).

Dos and Don'ts for Maha Shivratri Vrat

Dos:

4. Offer Bel Patra, Datura, milk, honey, and sandalwood paste to the Shiva Linga.
5. Recite Shiva Mantras, including ‘Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra’ and ‘Om Namah Shivaya.’
6. Observe four Prahar Puja during the night.
7. Break the fast the next morning after taking a bath and offering prayers.
