Jamia Masjid, Srinagar: The Jamia Masjid in Srinagar is one of the most iconic landmarks of Kashmir. Built in 1402 AD by Sultan Sikandar and later expanded by Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin, this grand mosque reflects the charm of Indo-Saracenic architecture and is a must-visit spiritual site in the valley.

The mosque was commissioned by Sultan Sikandar over 600 years ago. His son, Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin, extended its structure, making it not only a place of worship but also a cultural and historical symbol of Kashmir’s glorious past.

Architecture and Design

The mosque’s design is unique, it features 378 wooden deodar pillars, a spacious courtyard, and peaceful gardens. Its large prayer hall and intricate wooden work showcase a blend of Persian and Indian styles, offering a glimpse into Kashmir’s traditional craftsmanship.
