Brendan Ferrao made the alarming discovery after he had eaten almost half of the butterscotch cone.

After a Mumbai-based doctor allegedly discovered a human finger inside a butterscotch cone ordered through an online delivery platform,  the ice cream company responded with a statement.

Brendan Ferrao, a 26-year-old resident of Malad, made the alarming discovery when he bit into the ice cream and felt something unusual in his mouth.

Yummo Ice Creams responded, stating, “We have stopped manufacturing at this third-party facility, isolated the said product at the facility and our warehouses, and are in the process of doing the same at the market level. Product quality and safety being our highest priority, we were in process to address the situation. Meanwhile, the matter was escalated, and an official police complaint was filed by the customer."

The incident occurred on Wednesdaynight when Ferrao's sister ordered three ice creams—two mango-flavoured and one butterscotch—via a quick commerce platform. After her brother discovered the severed human finger embedded in the ice cream cone, the sister immediately contacted the police.

"I had ordered three cone ice creams from an app. One of them was a butterscotch ice cream of Yummo brand. After eating half of it, I felt a solid piece in my mouth. I thought it could be a nut or a chocolate piece and spat it out to check what it was," Ferrao had said in a video statement.

Senior Police Inspector Ravi Adane of the Malad Police Station confirmed the incident, saying, “We received a complaint stating that a piece of flesh was found in the ice cream ordered online. We have taken the piece of flesh for investigation. A case under sections 272, 273, and 336 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the ice cream company. We are investigating the case."

Yummo Ice Creams has pledged full cooperation with the authorities in the ongoing investigation.
