Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared an exclusive video showcasing India's first bullet train terminal at the Sabarmati Multimodal transport hub in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The clip offers a sneak peek into the terminal, equipped with features aimed at providing passengers with comfort and a unique travel experience.
The bullet train project, a collaboration between India and Japan, is scheduled to operate between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
"Terminal for India's first bullet train! Sabarmati multimodal transport hub, Ahmedabad," Vaishnaw captioned the video which is a precursor to the completion of the first 50km stretch of the bullet train corridor between Bilimora and Surat in Gujarat, slated for August 2026.

Vaishnaw had earlier highlighted the completion of 100 km of viaducts and 230 km of pier work, underscoring progress in the bullet train corridor. The corridor was initiated in November 2021 and its foundation was laid in Ahmedabad in September 2017.
The projected cost for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor is estimated at Rs 1.08 lakh crore. While the central government has pledged Rs 10,000 crore, Gujarat and Maharashtra are set to contribute Rs 5,000 crore each. The remaining funds will be procured through a loan from Japan, boasting a minimal 0.1 per cent interest rate.
The project would afford many quantifiable benefits like saving in travel time, vehicle operation cost, reduction in pollution, job creation, reduction in accidents/ enhanced safety, imported fuel substitution, and reduction in pollutants, according to the NHSRCL website.
It would be an integrated system having overall optimization of hardware, software, human-ware, and their interface, the website says.
