Star cricketer Virat Kohli and his wife, Bollywood personality Anushka Sharma, announced on February 20 that they have been blessed with a baby boy, whom they have named as 'Akaay'.
The child was given birth on February 15, as per the note shared by Kohli on his Instagram handle. This is the second child of the couple, as they were earlier, in January 2021, blessed with a daughter whom they named Vamika.
"With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay & Vaamika's little brother into this world! (sic)," stated the note shared by Kohli.
Notably, Kohli has given a skip to the ongoing Test series against England, which led to the speculations that he and Anushka were expecting their second child.
Earlier this month, former South African captain AB De Villiers suggested that Kohli and Anushka were expecting a second child, but soon retracted his remarks.
"...his second child is on the way. Yes, it's family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. I think most people's priority is family. You can't judge Virat for that. Yes, we miss him, but he has made the right decision," de Villiers said, during a live question-and-answer session on Youtube.
The former batter later retracted his remarks while speaking to a newspaper, saying that he made a "terrible mistake".
