Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy's suggestion on the opening episode of the 3one4 Capital's podcast 'The Record' about how India's youth must work for 70 hours every week continues to gather reactions from leading personalities, across various industries.
The latest to give his opinion was Tech Mahindra CEO CP Gurnani, who reacted to Murthy's words on Sunday and in a X (formerly Twitter) post gave a detailed explanation of what the Infosys founder might have meant when he said that India's youth must put in long hours to improve the country's overall work productivity.
"I believe when he talks of work, it's not limited to the company.. it extends to your self and to your country.. He hasn't said work 70 hours for the company - work 40 hours for the company but work 30 hours for yourself," Gurnani wrote.

"Invest the 10,000 hours that makes one a master in one's subject.. burn the midnight oil and become an expert in your field. THAT is 70 hours of work which can differentiate you as a youngster and in the process your country," he added.
Gurnani is the latest to voice his opinion about Murthy's suggestion after other prominent industry figures such as JSW's Sajjan Jindal endorsed the Infosys founder's words and said India's circumstances were different to the rest of the world and the country could ill shorter work weeks.
