
As Delhi NCR work up to sudden rain and thunderstorms on Friday, Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong, took to social media to show how to embrace the weather. The envoy posted a series of pictures, displaying himself relishing the rainy vibes with a warm cup of tea and fried pakodas.
Taking to X, the diplomat shared three pictures along with a caption, “Celebrating first baarish in 2026 with chai pakora. Come join me?”
The picture shows him enjoying a beautiful view of the lawn drenched in rain with pakoda and a cup of tea placed in front of him.

The post quickly went viral, with social media users commenting on it.
One user wrote, “Looks very good, Sir. I want to join.’’ Another user commented, “Onion and tomato PAKORA is the best.” A third user said, “Sir, you must try the tea made by me."

Singapore appointed Simon Wong Wie Kuen as High Commissioner to the Republic of India on June 30, 2020. Before that, he was Singapore’s Trade Representative to Taiwan from July 2015 to January 2020.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wong graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Social Science in Sociology (Honours) in 1990. He later pursued a Master of Arts in East Asian studies from Cornell University in the United States of America in 1998.

On January 23, the minimum temperature logged at 12°C and the maximum temperature was recorded at 19°C. Following the rain, air quality improved, with AQI dropping to the ‘satisfactory’ 201-300 range after days of hazardous pollution.
