Ratan Tata explained that the medical staff at his animal hospital urgently needed blood for a 7-month-old dog suffering from suspected tick fever and severe anaemia.

Ratan Tata took to Instagram to seek urgent assistance in finding a blood donor for a dog admitted to his Small Animal Hospital in Mumbai. In his post, he detailed the critical situation and appealed to the people of Mumbai for their help.

"I would really really appreciate your help," the industrialist and philanthropist wrote in his plea.

The Chairman Emeritus of Tata Group, explained that the medical staff at his animal hospital urgently needed blood for a 7-month-old dog suffering from suspected tick fever and severe anaemia. Tata also provided the eligibility criteria for donor dogs, accompanied by a picture of the ailing animal.

Further emphasising his call for help, he shared the same image in his Instagram story with a clear message: "Mumbai, I need your help."

The post, shared just a few hours ago, has since gone viral, amassing over lakhs of likes which are also rapidly increasing. It also garnered numerous comments from the public.

One Instagram user commented, "Have sent a text with a contact for a potential match."

Another remarked, "Imagine a billionaire posting request posts for helping dogs," concluding their comment with a heart emoji.

A third person praised Tata, saying, "Most down-to-earth businessman." Another added, "Despite being one of the world's wealthiest, his family and business donate over 65% of their wealth to charity."

This is not the first instance of Tata using social media to aid a dog in distress. Previously, he used Instagram to help reunite a rescued dog with its owners.He had posted, "My office found an abandoned/lost dog last night at Sion Hospital, Mumbai. If you are his guardian or have any leads, please email reportlostdog@gmail.com with some evidence of ownership. Meanwhile, he is in our care and is being treated for his wounds."

Meanwhile, the Small Animal Hospital, under the management of Tata Trusts, is a state-of-the-art veterinary centre dedicated to the care of cats and dogs. The hospital in Mumbai collaborates with specialists across various disciplines to diagnose and treat complex cases, showcasing its commitment to animal welfare with cutting-edge technology.
