Newly released police footage has shed light on a dramatic and dangerous highway crash involving former World Wrestling Entertainment chairman Vince McMahon in July 2025. Video from Connecticut State Police dash and body-worn cameras captures the moments leading up to and following the accident on Route 15, near Exit 15 in Westport, Connecticut.
In the recording, the 80-year-old McMahon is seen driving his 2024 Bentley Continental GT Speed at speeds well above the posted limit — troopers estimated he reached nearly 115 mph (around 185 km/h) before the collision. The luxury car weaves through northbound traffic along the Merritt Parkway before the driver rear-ends a BMW. The impact throws both vehicles into a wooden guardrail and scattered debris litters the roadway. Smoke rises from the mangled Bentley as it comes to rest on the shoulder.
The exchange between McMahon and a state trooper is part of the released bodycam audio. When asked about his speed, McMahon said he was trying to drive to his granddaughter’s birthday and that he had not driven the high-performance vehicle in “God knows how long.” The trooper can be heard noting the excessive speed and asking whether McMahon had seen the police lights ahead. McMahon insisted he was not trying to outrun the officer. At one point during the interaction he can be heard saying to himself, “God damn it, stupid f***ing fool.”
The driver of the BMW, identified as Barbara Doran, later described her experience on social media before deleting her post. She said McMahon’s vehicle hit her car at high speed and “catapulted” it more than 100 yards (about 90 m), narrowly avoiding serious injury.
Following the crash, McMahon was cited for misdemeanour reckless driving and for following too closely, according to court records. In October 2025, a Connecticut judge allowed him into a pretrial programme. Under the agreement, McMahon made a $1,000 charitable donation and agreed to maintain valid licensing and insurance. If he completes the programme without further incidents, the charges will be dismissed in October 2026.
Despite the violent nature of the crash, no one was seriously hurt. McMahon declined medical attention at the scene. The footage and court outcome have reignited public discussion about road safety, the treatment of high-profile defendants and the risks of high-speed driving on public highways.
