Google has recently revealed what Indians looked for most using its search engine and when it comes to the "most Googled movies" of this year, Shah Rukh Khan leads the pack with both his 2023 releases Jawaan and Pathaan featured in the top five.
"In movies, while the Barbenheimer phenomenon captured the world’s attention, Indian films weren’t far behind. Jawan staked its claim to the top trending local film search and #3 top trending film search globally. Gadar 2 and Pathaan also secured coveted spots as local and worldwide trending films," Google stated in a release.
The top 10 'Googled' movies of the year are:
1.) Jawan
2.) Gadar 2
3.) Oppenheimer
4.) Adipurush
5.) Pathaan
6.) The Kerala Story
7.) Jailer
8.) Leo
9.) Tiger 3
10.) Varisu
Interestingly, Jawan and Pathan are among this year’s most-read and popular articles on the world’s largest encyclopedia Wikipedia, according to data released earlier this week.
The foundation announced Wikipedia’s top 25 most popular articles of 2023 and topics related to India, and on number 8 was Jawan with 21,791,126 pageviews, Pathaan ranked 10 with 19,932,509 pageviews.
“Pathaan was released first in January 2023, and broke several box office records. Those accomplishments were short-lived, as Jawan surpassed them after its release in September," the foundation stated. "Both films featured Shah Rukh Khan as the main lead actor. Around their release dates, both films peaked at over one million views in a single day on English Wikipedia alone."
Meanwhile, after delivering back-to-back action blockbusters in Pathaan and Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan has said he likes being a romantic hero wielding weapons in his films. The actor will once again be seen holding a shotgun in his upcoming movie Dunki.
