A disturbing video of two men kneading the dough of popular street food snack golgappa with their feet in Jharkhand's Garhwa district has sparked outrage online and within the local community.
The footage, which has since gone viral on social media, shows the men kneading flour for golgappas using their bare feet, with packaged golgappa seen lying nearby. However, the scandal does not end there — the accused have also admitted to mixing urea fertiliser and the toilet cleaner Harpic into the dough, after a police investigation.
The video, which surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), immediately drew public anger and disgust. According to a report by ‘Hindustan’, locals at a Nagar Panchayat market where the incident occurred, surrounded the two men and alerted the authorities.
Police detained the shopkeepers and during interrogation, the accused admitted to using harmful chemicals in their food preparation, ABP News reported. Arvind Yadav, one of the men involved, confessed that he and his associate, Satish Kumar Srivastava, added urea and Harpic to "enhance the taste" of the golgappas they sold.

Police also discovered a suspicious solid substance, resembling white alum, from the shop. It has been sent for testing and the shop has been sealed.
Just days ago, a house help in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad was caught on camera mixing her urine in food she was preparing for her employers of eight years. She has been arrested.
