UP househelp reveals why she made rotis mixed with urine for her employers

Reena, a househelp in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, who was caught on camera mixing her urine with her employers' food has revealed that she held a grudge against them. The 32-year-old had been working with the family for eight years but was upset at her employers shouting at her for small mistakes, Times of India reported. Since it happened frequently, Reena decided to get back at them by kneading dough for the family with her urine, she told the police.

The matter came to light on Monday after her employer, a Ghaziabad-based real estate businessman, quietly recorded her activity in the kitchen to find out why his family -- comprising two kids -- were suffering from unexplained liver problems and were not recovering despite treatment.

First, they stopped eating food prepared outside but when the problems persisted, the businessman set up a surveillance camera in the kitchen. In the video recorded, Reena is seen urinating in a bowl and using it to knead dough for the family.

Armed with the video as evidence, the businessman and his wife approached the police and filed a complaint after which the househelp was apprehended.

During interrogation, Reena initially denied any wrongdoing but fell silent when she was shown the video. She later confessed that it was her way of getting back at the family for shouting at her.

"The cook initially refuted the charges but when shown a clip where she was kneading flour in a bowl in which she had urinated. She claimed her employer often shouted at her for small mistakes. This upset her greatly," ACP Wave City Lipi Nagayach told the publication.

Meanwhile, her employers are in shock since Reena had been working with them for eight years. They said they trusted her completely until their unexplained liver problems prompted the businessman to investigate her. The incident has left them terribly disturbed, they added.
