The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in Mumbai will be hosting its latest visual art exhibit titled ‘POP: FAME, LOVE AND POWER’ at the Art House, its dedicated visual art space.

This is the first time that an in-depth exhibition on pop art including valuable artworks is being showcased in India. The artworks on display have been loaned by 22 lenders ranging from museums and foundations to private lenders across the world, including the Ambani Collection and Piramal Museum of Art.

It features works by twelve of the biggest names in American Pop Art – Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Coosje Van Bruggen, Ed Ruscha, Elaine Sturtevant, Keith Haring, James Rosenquist, Jim Dine, Robert Rauschenberg, Robert Indiana, Roy Lichtenstein, and Tom Wesselmann.

Curated by Lawrence Van Hagen, the exhibit will take the audience through the golden years of the American pop art movement that started in the late 1950s, tracing three themes tied to the origins of the movement, namely, fame, love, and power.

Commenting on the exhibition, Isha Ambani said, “This vivid, colorful, and imaginative exhibit fulfills the cultural centre’s promise of bringing the best of international art experiences to India. The showcase is special not only because it traces the incredible legacy of Pop Art, but because it has an unmistakable sense of fun about it. I’m especially excited to see it strike a chord with younger audiences and foster a culture of creativity with inspirations that go beyond time and space.”

The pop art exhibit will remain on display till February 11, 2024. Tickets can be booked through BookMyShow or by visiting the official website ‘nmacc.com’.
