The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, a multidisciplinary arts space at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai, has unveiled a first-of-its-kind visual art exhibition. Titled Light Into Space, the immersive exhibition showcases thought-provoking works of light and space artists from the 1960s and 1970s. Curated by the New York-based Dia Art Foundation, the exhibition, spread over four floors of NMACC's dedicated visual arts space, includes works of iconic American artists like John Chamberlain, Mary Corse, Walter De Maria, Dan Flavin, Nancy Holt, Robert Irwin, Robert Smithson, and French artist François Morellet.

Honouring the visual art ethos of the 1960s and 70s originating in Southern California, the exhibition is curated as a dynamic interplay of light and environment to create immersive experiences that interact with the audience and challenge fixed perceptions of reality.

On view till May 11 at the Art House, ‘Light into Space’ was unveiled by Isha Ambani in the presence of Jessica Morgan, Nathalie de Gunzburg Director and Curator, and Min Sun Jeon, Assistant Curator at Dia Art Foundation, along with other delegates.

The visually stunning artworks, brought together as a comprehensive exhibition for the first time in India, draw life from illusive environment and industrial materials like fluorescent lights, polished metal and plastic, and large-scale installations involving mirrors, lights and reflective paint. Unlike traditional canvas and other established forms like paintings and sculptures, the exhibition promises to change the way one experiences art.

Tickets for Light Into Space start from Rs 199 (Combo ticket with ‘Infinity Room’ from INR 249). Entry to this exhibition is free for senior citizens, children under 7, and students of fine arts, design and architecture. You can book your tickets on www.nmacc.com/visual-arts/light-into-space.
