Elon Musk’s transgender daughter says she’s broke after cutting ties with world's richest dad

Elon Musk, whose net worth is estimated at $413 billion, has been publicly estranged from Vivian Jenna Wilson since 2022, when she filed a petition to change her name and gender, severing legal ties with her father.

Earlier this year, Vivian Jenna Wilson had also alleged that her father Elon Musk had opted for sex-selective in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) to secure male heirs.

Vivian Wilson, the 21-year-old transgender daughter of Elon Musk, has said she’s struggling financially despite being the eldest child of the world’s richest man, The Cut reported.

Wilson said she lives with three roommates in Los Angeles because it’s “cheaper,” and dismissed assumptions about her wealth. “People assume I have a lot of money. I don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars at my disposal,” she said. “My mom is rich, right? But obviously the other one [Musk]… is unimaginable degrees of wealthy.”

Musk, whose net worth is estimated at $413 billion, has been publicly estranged from Wilson since 2022, when she filed a petition to change her name and gender, severing legal ties with her father. Since then, Wilson has repeatedly criticised Musk on social media, calling him a “pathetic man-child” and accusing him of being unsupportive of her gender identity.

Earlier this year, Wilson had also alleged that Musk had opted for sex-selective in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) to secure male heirs. She stated that she spent years struggling against imposed masculinity, only to discover later that it stemmed from a calculated decision.

Taking to Instagram’s Threads, Vivian questioned the legality of sex-selective IVF, writing, “How the f**k is it legal?” She further stated, “My assigned sex at birth was a commodity that was bought and paid for.”

Musk has responded in interviews by saying Wilson was “killed by the woke mind virus” and that he was “tricked” into allowing her transition at age 16.

Despite her rising public profile—Wilson recently landed a Teen Vogue cover and signed with a modelling agent—she insists she’s not living a glamorous life. “I can afford food. I have friends, a shelter, and some expendable income, which is nice and much more fortunate than most people my age in Los Angeles,” she said.

Wilson also reflected on her sudden fame, saying she’s “not very good at being famous.” “There was a moment literally right before I became famous where no one knew who I was. It was amazing. Everyone treated me as a regular person. I kind of miss that. But I also like being famous,” she said. “I guess I’m kind of indifferent to it. But I like the fact that it makes me money.”
