A director at Mumbai's Tata Memorial Hospital has some advice for Zerodha co-founder and CEO Nithin Kamath who recently suffered a mild stroke -- "Please don't follow random influencers."
Dr CS Pramesh took to X after an entrepreneur and social media influencer offered some medical advice to Kamath which was refuted by multiple doctors.
Retweeting the recommendation, Dr Pramesh wrote, "A thread that demonstrates how life-threatening social media can be... Please don't follow random 'influencers' who don't have true science to back them beyond 'Trust me, bro'."
"Zero true science to back this. Don't fall for influencers without a science background," the Tata Memorial Hospital board member added in a separate post.

Another doctor who rubbished the influencer's suggestions was Hyderabad-based neurologist from Apollo Hospitals Dr Sudhir Kumar. "The treatments recommended by Mr Shankar Sharma are anecdotal and there is no evidence to support their effectiveness in post-stroke recovery," he said, refuting each of the recommendations the "influencer" had given Nithin Kamath.
Mathew, thanks for tagging me. Several people tagged me and asked for my opinion.

Joining the ranks was also Bengaluru's senior cardiologist from Kauvery Hospital, Dr Deepak Krishnamurthy.

He, however, stated that a work-life balance is required to reduce the chances of getting a stroke. "There needs to be time to relax, unwind and sleep. For all that you need spare time," he said.
The doctor was referring to Nithin Kamath's post on Monday where he revealed that he suffered a "mild stroke" around six weeks ago and listed the possible reasons for it which included grief, poor sleep, exhaustion, dehydration, and overworking out.
The Zerodha boss, who is currently recovering and may take up to six months to heal completely, also said that his doctor suggested he take some time out to relax and unwind.
"The doctor said you need to know when you need to shift the gears down a bit," Kamath said.
