Federal Express Corporation, one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, is expanding its footprint in India with a new 60,000 sqft integrated hub at AI-SATS logistics park, Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru.
The launch comes as the airport moves to nearly double its annual cargo handling capacity to 1 million metric tonnes, strengthening Bengaluru’s role as a key export gateway and aligning the FedEx investment with India’s next phase of high-growth manufacturing and trade.
The facility has multiple conveyors and a throughput capacity of nearly 4,000 packages per hour. Its location within Bengaluru’s air-cargo ecosystem enhances transit consistency and optimises regional network performance.
“This new hub elevates the region’s logistics infrastructure by consolidating international import and export handling, automated processing systems, mechanised conveyors, telescopic belts, and a high-speed DIM machine for non-contact dynamic dimensioning,” FedEx said in a statement.
“With bonded customs capability and seamless connectivity to both upcountry and city-side locations, the facility is engineered to deliver faster, more reliable handling for time-sensitive industrial, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing shipments,” it said.
“This new hub strengthens our India network by combining intelligent processes with advanced infrastructure. It brings the agility and resilience required by customers and enables businesses of every size to access global markets with greater confidence,” said Suvendu Choudhury, vice president of India (operations and planning and engineering).
Ramanathan Rajamani, chief executive officer of Air India SATS Airport Services Pvt Ltd, said: “The inauguration of the new FedEx hub at AISATS BLR logistics park marks an important step toward building seamless, technology-driven cargo operations in Bengaluru. This park reflects Air India SATS’ unwavering commitment to strengthening India’s logistics ecosystem. We are excited to collaborate with FedEx to advance best-in-class infrastructure that supports South India’s growing manufacturing and export ambitions.”
Designed with safety and efficiency at its core, FedEx Bengaluru hub combines modern infrastructure with advanced automation to maximize operational excellence.
By expanding infrastructure, strengthening air connectivity, and leveraging regional expertise, FedEx continues to support India’s export-driven growth. Bengaluru hub enhances supply-chain resilience for high-value industries, boosts operational capacity, and supports India’s ambition to accelerate manufacturing-led economic growth, the company added.
