Anand Mahindra stated that even his position as Chair of the Mahindra Group did not place him ahead of customers waiting for the company’s newly launched electric SUV. On Wednesday, he posted a photograph of the model on social media and mentioned that he hoped to obtain one in black.
After his post, a user on X responded humorously, suggesting that he could choose any vehicle from the company while ordinary buyers had to wait. Mahindra replied in the same light tone, noting that his colleagues never fast-track his requests. He wrote that those around him believed he would always remain patient and therefore assumed he could be placed “at the end of the queue”, as he put it.
I’d like to order the Stealth Black, please, @rajesh664.Because Some vehicles wear colours.

The model in question was the XEV 9S, the all-electric, three-row SUV revealed a month earlier with prices beginning at Rs 19.95 lakh. The company had positioned the launch as a substantial step towards what it described as a fully electric future. Customers would be able to choose their preferred configuration from December 14, with test drives scheduled to begin on January 5, bookings to open on January 14, and the first set of vehicles due for delivery on January 23.
Mahindra had described the XEV 9S as India’s first seven-seat, electric-native SUV built on the INGLO architecture. The company said the model had been designed for larger households, long-distance use and daily commuting, with an emphasis on a quiet, roomy and stress-free drive. In Mahindra’s own description, the vehicle intended to provide “more space in every sense”, offering comfort for passengers and the ability to spend time together in a relaxed environment.
