Delhi biker faces legal action, bike scrapped after reckless zigzag stunt in front of bus goes viral

The video, widely circulated on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, captured the man riding erratically in front of a DTC bus numbered 253, which was en route to Yamuna Vihar in East Delhi. He was seen weaving dangerously, blocking the path of the bus, and preventing the driver from overtaking.

Authorities also confirmed that the bike was more than 15 years old, thus exceeding the permissible age limit under Delhi’s anti-pollution regulations.

A motorcyclist who performed reckless stunts in front of a moving Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus has been tracked down and booked by the Delhi Police after a video of the incident surfaced and went viral on social media. The footage, which garnered widespread outrage online, showed the biker, riding a Royal Enfield Bullet, engaging in dangerous manoeuvres without wearing a helmet on a public road.

At one point in the footage, the biker pulled alongside the moving bus and grabbed its side-view mirror — a stunt that posed a serious risk to both himself and other road users. The video was set to music and included an overlay caption that read, “Ab batao location” (Now tell the location).

Responding to public concern, the Delhi Police issued a statement confirming that special teams had been formed to identify the individual involved. “After verifying the incident with the DTC control room, the bus involved was identified. Police then analysed the viral clip and other technical inputs to track the motorcycle’s registration number,” the statement said.

Subsequent investigation revealed that the Royal Enfield motorcycle had been sold over 13 years ago, but the ownership records had not been updated in the official vehicle registration database. The police traced the registered owner, who cooperated fully with the investigation and provided information to help identify the current possessor of the vehicle.

Authorities also confirmed that the bike was more than 15 years old, thus exceeding the permissible age limit under Delhi’s anti-pollution regulations. In line with existing rules, the motorcycle was handed over to a registered scrapper.

“Legal action has been initiated against the rider,” the police confirmed. “The biker was endangering not only his own life but also road users' with his erratic riding on a busy road.”

The Delhi Police further issued an appeal to the public, especially to young bikers, to refrain from performing stunts and to strictly follow road safety guidelines. “Such behaviour puts multiple lives at risk and will not be tolerated,” the statement warned.

This is not the first timereckless stunts by bikers have been recorded and circulated online. In a previous incident, a video surfaced showing a man performing stunts while standing on a moving motorcycle on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. The biker lost control and fell off mid-stunt, leading to a collision with another vehicle.
