In a concerning incident, a customer who ordered a meal from Burger King via Zomato was left alarmed after discovering mould on a burger he had partially eaten. The customer, Yaman Sharma, shared his experience on X, posting an image of the mould-covered burger alongside fries. The post quickly gained attention, raising broader concerns about food safety in India's food delivery ecosystem.
The incident unfolded when Sharma placed an order through Zomato, receiving a mould-infested burger from the popular fast-food chain. Expressing his frustration on social media, Sharma tagged both Burger King and Zomato, seeking accountability and action. The image, which depicted one side of the half-eaten burger with visible mould, elicited a wave of reactions from social media users.
"Ordered from Burger King via Zomato. After finishing the fries, opened the burger (Veg Whooper), and today I came to know that they have launched a new flavour in which mould is coming free with the bread," Sharma wrote in his post.
"This shows how much you people care about your customers' health. Brother, you can clearly say that, we will not order from here next time," he added in a separate tweet.

Responding to the post, Zomato issued an apology, stating, “This is very shocking. We are sorry you had to go through this. We will investigate it. In the meantime, a member of our team will definitely call you.” Zomato also asked the customer to provide further contact details for resolution.
Burger King also addressed the issue, stating, “Hi Yaman, we never intend to provide such an experience. Can you please DM us your Contact Number, Store Location, Order ID and Email ID so that we can get in touch with you. Rest assured we will investigate this thoroughly.”
While the companies promised to look into the matter, the incident sparked a range of reactions from social media users. Some expressed their disgust, while others jokingly remarked on the situation. One user sarcastically commented, “Hari chutney hogi [It must be green chutney],” while another added, “This is nasty. Ugh so terrible!”
"I also had same experience with @zomato that's why I uninstalled their app and their service is pathetic. After all the inconvenience they offer me Rs 10 coupon to settle the matter. #boycottzomato," a user added.
