Rains in several parts of Himachal, monsoons intensifies: MeT

Moderate to heavy rains occurred in many parts of Himachal Pradesh as monsoons intensified in the state, bringing happiness for the farmers and apple growers.

Shimla and surrounding areas received 46 mm of rains while Bilaspur was wettest place in the state with 65 mm rains, followed by Sahib 53 mm, Berthin 50 mm, Hamirpur 40 mm, Khadrala 30 mm, Nagrota Suriyan and Guler 23 mm, Bangana 19 mm, Pachhad 11 mm and Dharampur 9 mm.

Met office has predicted rains and thundershowers at many places in lower, mid and higher hills over next six days from tomorrow, and warned of heavy rains in some places in mid hills on June 26.

Rains brought happiness for the farmers and apple growers, who have been waiting for it eagerly after completing the sowing of Kharif crops, Timely rains would prove benefitial for the crop as it would provide moisture in the rainfed areas.

Una in Shivalik foothills was hottest in the region with maximum temperature touching 33.8 deg C mark, while Bhuntar and Sundernagar recorded a high of 32.2 deg C and 31.4 deg C, followed by Nahan 30.1 deg C, Dharamshala 29.8 deg C, Solan 27.8 deg C, Shimla 22.7 deg C and Kalpa 22 deg, C.

The minimum temperature dropped marginally with Manali and Kalpa being the coldest places in the region with a low of 13 deg C. It were followed by Keylong 13.8 deg C, Shimla 15.5 deg C, Dharamsala 16.2 deg C, 19 deg C, Bhuntar 21 deg C, Sundernagar 21.6 deg C and Una 26.2 deg C.
