The industries in Maharashtra will not be subjected to load shedding from the month of May, state chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said here today.
Speaking at the stone-laying function of second stage of Mouda Super Thermal Power project (2x660 MW) of NTPC near here, Chavan said the state was facing only four percent load shedding at present and the state would overcome the shortage soon and the industry would not face any load shedding from May.
The state is all set to generate power to the tune of 3,230 MW by the end of 2013, he said adding the Centre should help the state to augment power generation from Dabhol power project which was getting only one third of the required gas and Uran, where only 300 mw of electricity was produced
against the installed capacity of 660 mw due to lack of gas.
He said that he had urged the centre to take over both the projects and compensate the state by supplying power from the national grid. He also informed that there has been sharp reduction in transmission losses which have come down from 18 percent in 2004-05 to four percent now.
Chavan also complained to Union Minister of State for Power (Independent) Jyotiraditya Scindia who was present on the occasion that Maharashtra was getting only 75 percent of its assured quota of coal which was a cause of concern.
