The next iPhone series-iPhone15- is likely to not have SIM card trays. As per a report published on MacGeneration, the company might take off the SIM card trays from the iPhone products that will be sold in France this year. If the company does decide to remove SIM trays from the iPhone products that will be sold in France, it is likely that it might take off the SIM card trays from the products in other European countries, as well.
If Apple does decide to remove the SIM card trays from iPhone15, then it is likely that the product will function on eSIMs for cellular connectivity. eSIMS will permit customers to activate a cellular plan without the need to use a physical SIM card.
"With eSIM Carrier Activation, your carrier can assign an eSIM to your iPhone digitally at the time of purchase, or if you call your carrier for an eSIM after setup," Apple said.
While launching iPhone 14, the company had promoted the use of eSIMs since it felt it was more secure as compared to physical SIM cards, which can be destroyed or stolen. Apple had removed the SIM card tray from iPhone 14 products that were sold in the United States in 2022. Currently, only iPhones sold in the United States do not have a SIM card tray.
Currently, Apple permits the iPhone 13 and newer iPhone products to function on two eSIMs at the same time. There is no information yet as to whether Apple will release iPhone 15 models in India without the SIM card trays.
