Xiaomi, the Chinese technology conglomerate, has reported that it has seen 200 percent YoY growth during the Diwali season.
The growth was driven by strong demand for 5G smartphones launched earlier in the year.
"All things coming together, our 5G sales this Diwali as compared to the last Diwali grew by 200 percent, spurred by the rapid 5G rollout by Bharti Airtel, and Reliance Jio," said Muralikrishnan B, President, Xiaomi India.

"For a company that was number four in the beginning of the year, to be clear on strategy and execute this and to climb up the ranks, we are very happy with the way things are progressing," the Xiaomi executive added.

Besides smartphones, Xiaomi's TV business also saw positive growth, growing 30 percent YoY during the festive period, thanks to the Cricket World Cup coinciding with the Diwali season.
"The 43-inch 4K segment, which was the hottest segment, grew upwards of 75% year over year," said Muralikrishnan B.
