Google Chrome recently crossed over 2 billion users worldwide. The popular web browser dominates over the likes of Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox in terms of the user base. The wide popularity also attracts hackers and miscreants to try and take advantage of any loopholes that can bypass the browser’s security and hack key user data. Considering this, Google has issued its fourth urgent upgrade warning in two months.
According to the official blog post, Google has found seven “High” security threats in its Chrome browser. The company has rolled out an update for its Windows, macOS and Linux app versions that fixes these vulnerabilities. Google states that users need to update their Chrome browser to version 92.0.4515.159 which will roll out over the coming days/weeks.
The company has credited various external researchers for helping spot the vulnerabilities. Google has not revealed the bug details and links and plans to restrict it until a majority of users are updated with a fix. This makes total sense as releasing the details could help miscreants take advantage of the vulnerabilities and also put those at risk who are yet to update the browser. In case you still wish to know, Google has listed the following details as of now:
To ensure that your browser is updated to version 92.0.4515.159, go to Settings > Help > About Google Chrome. If the version mentioned is the same as listed above, it means that you are safe from the reported threats. If not, we would advise our readers to immediately update Google Chrome to version 92.0.4515.159.
