Ema, a generative AI assistant tool for workplaces, has raised $25 million in a seed round from Accel, Prosus and Wipro, along with prominent angel investors including Yahoo founder Jerry Yang and former Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, among others.
This comes at a time when global big tech giants like Microsoft, Google and IBM too are aggressively launching and deploying AI-enabled productivity tools within its product suites.
Ema, which stands for Enterprise Machine Assistant, was in stealth mode since mid of 2023. It is founded by former Coinbase chief product officer and a senior Flipkart executive Surojit Chatterjee along with Silicon Valley-based data and machine learning veteran Souvik Sen.
“Our Universal AI Employee is poised to revolutionize how teams collaborate, communicate, and excel in today's dynamic landscape. Using our patent-pending technology, Ema boosts productivity across every role in the enterprise by automating any complex workflow, standard or specialized, with a simple conversation,” said founder and CEO Chatterjee.
Subrata Mitra, partner at Accel, said, "The outstanding team driving Ema's innovation is led by a visionary founder I've known for nearly a decade. We're excited to back this team in their pursuit of efficiency and innovation."
"Ema is leading the next frontier of Generative AI for enterprises with a vision to drive efficiency across all business areas... It is a hard problem, but once solved, it will be transformative, and we are thrilled to partner with Surojit and his team on this endeavour," Ashutosh Sharma, Head of Investments, India at Prosus Ventures, added.
Some of its enterprise customers include Envoy Global, Moneyview, and TrueLayer.
Enterprises can build on and deploy Ema for use cases around improving efficiency and boosting productivity across organisational functions. It comes with ‘standard personas’ of customer support, and data professional apart from more complex roles with its Generative Workflow Engine.
