Unveiled - 2014 BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo

February 07, 2013 / 16:45 IST

The BMW 5 Series GT's baby brother, the 3 Series GT 2014 has been unveiled. Showcased just before its Chicago Auto Show 2013 debut, the new 3 Series is 200mm longer than the sedan version while standing taller by 81mm and having a 110mm longer wheelbase. All this translates to a higher seating position (59mm) for the front and rear passengers as also additional leg room (70mm) than the sedan. The Gran Turismo also has an equally impressive 520 litres of boot space, up by 25 litres from the 3 Series. While immediately identifiable as an iteration of the 3 Series, the Gran Turismo adds its own elements like an integrated active spoiler at the rear and an M Sport package, which give it some sort of visual identity. All this promises to make the 3 Series GT a good tourer sedan.

As far as engines are concerned, the 3 GT comes with a choice of 4-cylinder 245PS 328i and the 6-cylinder 300PS 335i. Both the engines are mated to 8-speed automatic transmissions. The 3 Series Gran Turismo will be in North American showrooms by the end of this year.
