Apple to manufacture iPhone 17 in India by 2024: Ming-Chi Kuo

In a blog post, Kuo said that Foxconn, which owns 80 percent of the production lines for iPhones in India, is expected to offload China production next year.

Noted Apple analyst, Ming Chi-Kuo, has said that Apple will manufacture the iPhone 17 in India, possibly by the end of 2024.

The phone which is expected to launch in global markets by 2025, will be manufactured in India starting in the second half of 2024.

In a blog post, Kuo said that Foxconn, which owns 80 percent of the production lines for iPhones in India, is expected to offload China production by up to 45 percent in Zhengzhou, and up to 85 percent in Taiyuan. Up to 14 percent of the iPhone models shipped globally, including the iPhone 15, are currently produced in India. That number is expected to rise by up to 25 percent by 2024.

The iPhone 17 will be the first phone developed outside of China, according to Kuo, who says Apple will start the product introduction process in India, during the second half of 2024.

Kuo also pointed out that Apple's relationship with Tata as one of the smartphone assemblers is "critical" to the company's growth in the next 10 years. Tata is expected to join Foxconn and Pegatron to help produce iPhones in the country.
