Images of supposed 7-inch HP TouchPad surface

Just yesterday, we talked about how RIM might be cutting prices for their PlayBook first to their employees, and possibly the public a little later.

Just yesterday, we spoke about how RIM might be cutting prices for their PlayBook first to their employees, and possibly the public, a little later. HP’s TouchPad was what got the ball rolling and if This is my next blog is to be believed, then a 7-inch model may well be on its way. The images show the 7-inch model to have a 4:3 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1024x768, exactly the same as the 9.7-inch TouchPad and also the much popular, iPad. The rest of the hardware should also be identical. There is said to be the same Qualcomm 1.5 GHz APQ8060 Snapdragon processor onboard and 16GB of internal memory. There’s also a  front-facing camera and a NFC chip onboard the tablet.

HP was supposed to have released a new batch of TouchPads after some crazy demand for their $99 16GB TouchPads. HP had decided to terminate the tablet and phone division, but continue development of their WebOS platform for other devices. Rumours of this 7-inch model codenamed Opal surfaced weeks before this decision. There’s also news that the new batch of TouchPads will be sold to HP employees first before being made available to the rest of us.
