When asked whether he has resigned from the post of Labour Minister, Gangwar answered in the affirmative. ''Yes I have resigned,'' he told PTI. He, however, said he is not aware what his new role in the government will be.
He was addressing the virtual Non-Aligned Movement Labour Ministers Meeting under 109th session of the International Labour Conference last evening.
The All-India CPI-IW (Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers) for February, 2021 increased by 0.8 points and stood at 119 points. On 1-month percentage change, it increased by 0.68 per cent with respect to the previous month (January 2021) as against a decline of 0.61 per cent between corresponding months (February 2020) a year ago.

Addressing the occasion, Gangwar said, "Accurate data plays an important role in policy making. In the absence of accurate data, you cannot analyse the present situation and its impact in the future. It is important, so that benefits of policies percolate down to grass-route level."
The surveys are significant since they use information technology to report employment generation.
"The sub-group comprises the members from various Ministries of Government of India, subject experts, NGOs and civil society organisations, to prepare a tangible action plan to address issues related to migrant workers," Labour and Employment minister Santosh Gangwar said in a written response
The Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar added that as on January 28, 2021, the total number of beneficiaries (new employees) under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana (ABRY) meant for creating jobs stood at 4.69 lakh.
Gains from ETF sales stood at around Rs 3,000 crore which helped the government meet FY20 EPF rate of 8.5 percent. Labour Code, 2019, will merge three central labour acts, The Trade Unions Act, 1926, The Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946 and The Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.
Parliament in its just concluded session passed three labour code bills: the Industrial Relations Code, the Social Security Code, and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code.
The maximum amount of Rs 8,968.45 crore EPF withdrawals from March 25 to August 31 were recorded in Maharashtra against 7,23,986 claims, followed by Karnataka Rs 6,418.52 crore for 4,84,114 claims and Tamil Nadu (including Puducherry) Rs 5,589.91 crore for 6,20,662 claims.
Earlier this month, Labour Minister Santosh Gangwar had indicated that remaining three labour codes on industrial relations, social security and occupational safety and health would be tabled in the ensuing Monsoon session of Parliament.
The EPF interest rate announced for 2019-20 was the lowest since 2012-13, when it stood at 8.5 percent. The rate of interest for 2018-19 was 8.65 percent.
"Year-on-year inflation based on all-items stood at 5.33 percent for July 2020 as compared to 5.06 percent for the previous month (June 2020) and 5.98 percent during the corresponding month (July 2019) of the previous year," a labour ministry statement said.
The all-India consumer price index numbers for agricultural labourers and rural labourers (base:1986-87=100) for the month of July 2020 increased by 3 and 4 points to stand at 1,021 and 1,028 points, respectively, the statement said.
Parliament in August last year approved the code to enable introduction of a minimum wage for every worker besides addressing issues like delay in payment to employees.
Similarly, as per the data, food inflation stood at 5.88 percent against 6.56 percent in the previous month and 5.21 percent in May 2019.
"Point to point rate of inflation based on the CPI-AL (agriculture labourers) and CPI-RL (rural labourers) decreased to 8.40 percent and 8.12 percent in May 2020 from 8.80 percent and 8.52 percent, respectively in April 2020," the labour ministry statement said.
