Around 3.71 crore unorganised workers above age of 50 years have been registered on eShram portal.
The latest data of the portal shows that the top five states in terms of the number of registration on e-Shram portal are Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand. Gender analysis of the data shows that 52.56 percent are female while 47.44 percent are male.
About 52.03 per cent registered workers are from the farm sector followed by 11.87 per in construction and 9.19 per cent in domestic and household segments.
According to a labour ministry statement, workers in diverse occupations such as construction, apparel manufacturing, fishing, gig and platform work, street vending, domestic work, agriculture and allied, transport sector have registered on the portal.
The portal can become the means of ensuring targeted welfare schemes aimed at the informal sector, which can help increase consumption demand
All informal workers will be allotted a E- Shram card containing a 12-digit UAN for availing the benefits of various social security schemes announced by the government. The 12-digit UAN will be valid throughout the country.
The portal set up to facilitate the provision of welfare benefits to migrant and unorganised workers is set to be launched on August 26.
