Speaking to reporters here, he said the state government has requested Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to attend but a confirmation on whether he would visit has not been received as yet.
The chief minister said this during the first day of his two-day visit to Gautam Buddh Nagar, where he inaugurated the office of the police commissioner on Sunday and was scheduled to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of a slew of development projects.
Inaugurating this edition of Defence Expo, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is eyeing defence export of $5 billion in the next five years.
In his address at the Defence Expo here, Modi, in the presence of top executives of global defence majors, said the government was conscious that creating a defence industrial complex is far from simple but it was sincerely working to achieve it.
"This Joint Venture is not focused only on manufacturing of electro optical devices, but also to cater in-service EO equipment with the Indian Army and MOD at large," a statement released here said today.
"The Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) can push the agenda of'Make in India' and India's target of achieving defence industry network," Parrikar said at the inauguration of four-day Defence Expo in Betul-Naqueri village, about 50 kms from Panaji.
The event was inaugurated by the defence minister Manohar Parrikar who said that they were finally on the verge of seeing Make in India for defence.
"Goa is one of the fastest growing and industrially advanced states in the country. We have significant presence of several public and private sector manufacturing facilities in defence as well as aerospace," Parsekar said during the inauguration of Defence Expo which kicked-off in Goa today.
"Defexpo India 2016, the ninth in the series of biennial Land, Naval and Internal Homeland Security Systems Exhibition, will be held at Naqueri Quitol in Quepem taluka of South Goa from March 28-31, 2016," the Ministry said on its website designed for this internationally famed event.
Notwithstanding the policy grey areas regarding FDI in defence production, foreign vendors are excited about future avenues in India, as the country's defence forces are planning to procure weapons worth USD 100 billion in the next 10 years.
Defence minister AK Antony and Army Chief General VK Singh who are at loggerheads, will come face to face at the Defence Expo on Thursday.
