Available in a single Dynamic HSE trim, the Range Rover Velar costs Rs 94.3 lakh ex-showroom. The design aesthetic of the Velar may be subtle, but it is significant nonetheless. At the nose, you see an all-new grille flanked by the Pixel LED headlights. The DRL signature has been tweaked as well for a fresh look. In profile, the silhouette remains the same with a new set of 20-inch alloy wheels while at the rear, there is a new bumper and a new set of tail lamps. (Image: Range Rover)

Powering the Range Rover Velar are two engine options. The 2.0-litre petrol engine is capable of producing 250 hp of maximum power and 365 Nm of peak torque. Mated to an 8-speed automatic, the Velar is claimed to complete a 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.5 seconds reaching a top speed of 217 km/h. Then you have the 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 204 hp of maximum power and 430 Nm of torque, and comes mated to a mild-hybrid system. Transmission duties are again handled by an 8-speed automatic and Land Rover claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 8.3 seconds reaching a top speed of 210 km/h. (Image: Range Rover)

Despite the luxury factor, the Range Rover Velar is an offroad SUV and as such gets a number of features unique to these rugged SUVs. For example, the Velar gets Land Rover’s Terrain Response 2 system. With this, the car’s settings adapt themselves to the current driving conditions. This is further aided by the electronic air suspension and adaptive dynamics that ensure a fairly comfortable ride. Thanks to the electronic air suspension, however, the Velar also gets something called ‘Elegant Arrival’ mode. With this turned on, the SUV’s ride height is reduced by 40 mm every time a person enters or exits the vehicle. (Image: Range Rover)
Aside from this, the Velar also gets a number of camera technologies. The 3D Surround camera for example gives you a 360-degree view of you surrounding. The ClearSight Ground View on the other hand uses a camera mounted to the front to display what’s under the car. (Image: Range Rover)

Moving inside now, the Velar gets a redesigned dashboard bringing it in line with the Range Rover and Sport models. The new 11.4-inch touchscreen sits proud in the centre complete with the company’s Pivi Pro operating system and wireless smartphone connectivity. The previously mentioned Terrain Response system which in the earlier iteration was operated using a dial on the centre console has now moved to the infotainment system. The HVAC controls, too, have moved into the big display, giving the entire console a far more minimalistic look. (Image: Range Rover)
