The father of the Kolkata rape and murder victim broke his silence over the circulation of purported audio clips, which recorded his initial conversations with RG Kar Hospital authorities on the day of the incident.
On being asked about the audio clips, the father of the 31-year-old victim declined to take responsibility for the leaks. "We don't know from where, how it (the phone conversation between the family and the assistant superintendent of the hospital) went viral. We will not take responsibility for it," he told ANI.
When he was questioned if the voice in the clips was his, the victim's father said, "You say so, but I do not see it. This issue will not affect the investigation."
Police recovered the body of the postgraduate trainee doctor on the morning of August 9 from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Ever since the incident came to the spotlight, massive protests have been held in different parts of the country demanding justice for the victim.
In one of the audio clips that surfaced on August 29, the assistant superintendent of RG Kar Hospital could be heard telling the victim's father that his daughter is extremely unwell and has been hospitalised. "Your daughter has been hospitalised, please come quickly," she said.
Another clip had the voice of a man who asked her parents to arrive to the hospital as soon as possible. “Your daughter is no more. She may have committed suicide. The police are here, so you also come quickly. You will know more when you are here,” the man says.
These audio recordings were accessed by CNN-News18.
The medic's body with severe injury marks was found inside the seminar hall of the state-run hospital's chest department by a doctor who was on the round.
Kolkata Police arrested civic volunteer Sanjay Roy on August 10 based on CCTV footage in which he was seen entering the seminar hall at 4.03 am on August 9 when the crime was allegedly committed.
