Days after a Tejas fighter jet crashed during an air show in Dubai, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has said on Monday the crash of a fighter jet was an “isolated occurrence”.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge extended his greetings, calling Justice Kant’s elevation “a critical juncture for the justice system.” Kharge expressed confidence that under his leadership, constitutional values, institutional strength, and public trust in the rule of law would be reinforced, further advancing the promise of justice for every citizen.

Justice Kant has been part of several landmark judgments, including the verdict on the abrogation of Article 370, which ended Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. His tenure as Chief Justice is set to span 14 months.

The Delhi Police today said it has arrested 15 people for allegedly blocking traffic, assaulting personnel, and obstructing their work during a protest at India Gate against the capital’s worsening air pollution.

The protest, held on Sunday near the C-Hexagon, escalated after police asked demonstrators to clear the route to allow ambulances and medical teams to pass. According to a senior officer, a scuffle broke out when some protesters resisted and allegedly used pepper spray on police, an incident the officer described as “unusual and rare”.

INS Mahe was formally commissioned into the Indian Navy on Monday by Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, marking a key addition to India’s shallow-water combat fleet. The new vessel represents a next-generation class of indigenous warships—compact, agile and designed for high-performance coastal operations. Built with more than 80% domestic components, the Mahe-class underscores India’s advancing capabilities in naval design, construction and systems integration. INS Mahe will operate on the Western Seaboard, where it is expected to function as a stealthy, high-endurance platform, strengthening surveillance, security and maritime defence under the banner of India’s growing self-reliance in naval power.

The flag features three symbols -- Om, the Sun, and the Kovidara tree. The Kovidara, described as a hybrid created by Rishi Kashyap from the Mandar and Parijat trees, signifies ancient knowledge of plant crossbreeding. The Sun represents Lord Ram’s lineage in the Suryavansh, while Om is considered the primordial spiritual sound.

Torrential monsoon rains have triggered widespread flooding across seven Malaysian states, affecting more than 11,000 people, the country’s national disaster agency said today. As of 6 a.m. local time, 11,009 residents from 3,839 families had been impacted in Kedah, Kelantan, Penang, Perak, Perlis, Terengganu and Selangor. Kelantan, bordering Thailand, has borne the brunt of the disaster, with 8,228 people displaced. No fatalities have been reported so far. Authorities have opened 60 temporary shelters across the affected states to accommodate evacuees.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office has said that the ceremony, expected to draw huge domestic and international footfall, could generate significant economic activity for Ayodhya. Increased demand in hospitality, travel, local crafts, and ODOP-linked products such as jaggery is projected to bring in business worth several crores.

The November 25 ceremony will also revive Ayodhya’s ancient flag tradition. The design being restored was identified by Indologist Lalit Mishra, who traced it from a painting in the pictorial Ramayana of Mewar and later confirmed its references in the Ayodhya Kand of the Valmiki Ramayana.

Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, Ayodhya is receiving an extensive floral makeover ahead of the grand flag-hoisting ceremony at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple on November 25, when PM Modi is set to raise the saffron flag atop the newly completed shrine.

Preparations are in full swing, with an estimated 100 tons of flowers being used to decorate both the temple complex and major parts of the city. Priests involved in the arrangements said the decoration heavily features flowers considered auspicious for Lord Ram, including large quantities of marigold.

A protest at India Gate over rising air pollution levels in the national capital turned tense on Sunday after some demonstrators allegedly used chilli spray on police personnel while being removed from the spot, officials said. The Delhi Coordination Committee for Clean Air in a statement said the city's worsening air quality has become a "serious risk" to public health and alleged that the authorities have failed to address the root causes of pollution.

An Indigo plane carrying passengers from Mumbai was damaged after being struck by a bird on the runway of Jolly Grant Airport near Rishikesh in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun, officials said, adding that all 186 passengers on board are safe. They said the incident occurred around 6:45 pm when a bird struck the nose of Indigo flight IGO 5032, which had arrived Rishikesh from Mumbai, after landing on the runway. Officials conducted a thorough inspection and a safety audit of the runway. -- PTI

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Delhi early morning after concluding his visit to South Africa, where he attended the G20 Summit. PM Modi on Sunday hailed the successful conduct of Johannesburg G20, saying it will contribute to a sustainable planet. He thanked South African President Cyril Ramaphosa for organising the Summit.
