A woman has alleged that poor hygiene conditions onboard an Akasa Air flight left her with serious health issues, prompting a response from the airline, which said the matter is under review.

The woman, identified as Jahanvi Tripathi, took to LinkedIn to share her experience. She also revealed that her friends travelling with her also faced a similar situation.

As per the details, the woman was travelling with her friends from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad on an Akasa Air flight, which departed at 10:25 pm on December 26. What was meant to be a routine and comfortable journey soon turned into a distressing experience.

“The unhygienic condition of the seats was extremely concerning and unacceptable. This issue not only caused severe discomfort during the flight but also led to physical distress afterward, which ultimately ruined my entire trip. My friends who were traveling with me faced similar discomfort, making it a shared negative experience,” she said in her post.

Tripathi further alleged that shortly after the journey began, she developed a severe fungal infection on her legs, which worsened over time. According to her, the condition has affected her ability to walk, sleep and manage everyday activities. She said she is currently under medical treatment and described the experience as physically and emotionally draining.

“This infection appears to have developed following my travel, raising serious concerns about hygiene and cleanliness standards, particularly related to seating, cabin conditions, or overall sanitation during the journey. Such health consequences after air travel are unacceptable and alarming,” she said, adding that passengers’ health and safety should be a top priority.

Responding to the allegations, Akasa Air said it regretted the experience and added that her feedback had been shared for review. “We sincerely regret the experience you have had with us. This is certainly not the standard we strive for, as we remain committed to maintaining the highest levels of hygiene and customer well-being. Your feedback has been shared for immediate review, and we will reach out to you at the earliest," the airline said.
