Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) chief and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha on Thursday claimed he has received multiple phone calls and messages threatening to kill him in 10 days if he speaks about a certain leader or party. The calls and messages were allegedly made in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi, the gangster currently lodged in prison in Gujarat.
"Yesterday, I got 2-3 phone calls and a message threatening to kill me in 10 days. The caller claimed that he was from the (Lawrence) Bishnoi gang. I have informed the police, they are investigating," Kushwaha, an NDA leader told news agency ANI Thursday evening.

Kushwaha allegedly received the threat calls when he was preparing to leave from Patna to Siwan to attend a programme where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to be present.
Kushwaha said he has forwarded the messages and the number through which he received the calls and messages. "I have provided all details to the police and they are investigating. What is the truth behind this (Lawrence Bishnoi gang) and who actually made the call is for the police to investigate," he said.

Kushwaha said in a post on X that he was warned not to speak against a particular political party and that his staff members also received similar calls on Wednesday.
Kushwaha said that he received around seven consecutive calls on his mobile phone between 8:52 PM and 9:20 PM. The caller identified himself as a member of the Bishnoi gang. Kushwaha said he blocked the number.
At 8:57 PM, Kushwaha said he received a threatening message from a different mobile number, reiterating that if he continued to speak against a particular party, he would face dire consequences.
The message warned that he would be “eliminated within ten days” if he didn’t stop.
"Today evening between 8:52 PM and 9:20 PM I received 7 consecutive threatening calls in the name of Lawrence Bishnoi Gang from mobile numbers +916305129156 and +919229567466. Also, at 8:57 PM, I was told via MMS/SMS from mobile number +917569196793 that if I continue to speak politically against a particular party, I will have to face the consequences. I was also told that I would be finished off in 10 days," he said in a post on X.
Kushwaha further said that the police should take immediate action in the matter. "SSP Patna should take immediate cognizance and take strict action against the culprits. Such threats are unacceptable in a democratic system. This entire disruption is expected to end immediately," he said in his social media post.
