Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district are probing a gruesome murder after chopped up body parts were found stuffed in polythene bags near an Idgah in Chandausi earlier this week, News18 reported.
Reports said that the bags were found on December 15 at Patraua Road, following which, locals alerted the police. The police later confirmed that body parts were present inside the bags. This included the head of the body too.
Identification was difficult at first. A breakthrough came when officers noticed the name “Rahul” engraved on one of the severed arms. Police later identified the victim as 40-year-old Rahul, a shoe trader who lived in Chunni locality.
Upon probing, the police got increasingly suspicious of his wife Ruby. The investigators later found out that Ruby had lodged a missing person complaint on November 18. This was weeks before the body parts were discovered.
During questioning, officers say her statements did not line up. Based on technical surveillance and other inputs, police believe the murder was planned. Ruby, her alleged lover Gaurav and another person have been detained.
As per reports, Rahul had been married for 15 years and had two kids. That being said, his 10-year-old daughter proved to be an important resource in the investigation of his murder.
She told police that her parents often argued and that three people would come to the house, sometimes bringing chocolates. During questioning, she allegedly broke down and pointed towards her mother’s role, asking police to punish those involved.
A search of the house led to the recovery of several items, including a cot leg, a scooter, a bag, a toilet brush, an iron rod and an electric heater. Forensic teams suspect the killing took place inside the house and the body was later cut into pieces and dumped at different locations.
Police are still searching for Rahul’s head and other missing body parts. The investigation is continuing.
