Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s uncle Abhishek Chauhan clears UPSC Civil Services Exam in first attempt

Abhishek Chauhan, the maternal uncle of India’s Under-19 World Cup star Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, has successfully cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services examination (CSE) 2025 in his first attempt, securing All India Rank 102 and a position in the Indian Police Service (IPS).

Hailing from Rajajan village in Mohiuddinnagar block of Samastipur district, he is the son of Professor Abhay Kumar Singh and Anuradha Rajput, according to an NDTV report. His father currently holds the post of registrar at Nalanda Open University.

According to the report, Vaibhav’s father, Sanjeev, expressed his happiness over Abhishek’s achievement.

Born on November 18, 1999, in Pusa, Abhishek Chauhan showed strong academic potential early on. He started his schooling at Akshara School in Hajipur and later cleared entrance exams for both Sainik School and Ramakrishna Mission, securing admission in Class 6.

He went on to complete his MTech with a gold medal. After 2022, he began preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination and cleared both the preliminary and main stages in 2025 in his first attempt, before appearing for the interview in 2026 where he confidently answered the panel’s questions.

His success has been widely celebrated in Samastipur district, particularly in his native village and among relatives in Dalsinghsarai, as per the NDTV report. Family members including his uncle Ajay Kumar Singh, a PACS chairman, aunt Tanuja Singh, and cousins Anand Chauhan and Anish Chauhan also expressed their happiness over the achievement.

The Union Public Service Commission on Friday declared the results of the civil services examination 2025. A total of 958 candidates have qualified for the examination and are recommended for appointment to different central civil services, the Commission said.
