Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday mentioned Syed Adil Hussain, pony ride operator killed in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, along with 25 other civilians.
“Adil had gone there (in Pahalgam) to work hard and earn bread for his family, but he too was shot dead by the terrorists,” Prime Minister Modi said while speaking in Katra, after the inauguration of Chenab and Anji Bridges.
Adil was the sole earning member of his family and used to take tourists up six kilometres on his pony from Pahalgam town to the green meadow.
He was shot dead by terrorists while he fought one of them and attempted to snatch the rifle from one of the terrorists.
Additionally, PM Modi said that terrorist camps in Pakistan and PoK were destroyed in strikes during Operation Sindoor.
The PM further said that Pakistan is against humanity and even the livelihood of the poor.
“What happened in Pahalgam on 22 April is an example of this. Pakistan attacked both ‘insaniyat and Kashmiriyat’ in Pahalgam. Its purpose was to cause riots in India and to obstruct the earnings of the hard-working people of Kashmir. That is why Pakistan attacked the tourists in Kashmir. Pakistan targeted the tourism that earns the families of Kashmir a livelihood,” he said.
“Pakistan never imagined that India would strike so deep. Terror buildings were demolished and turned into rubble. Afterwards, Pakistan went into a frenzy and retaliated by attacking houses, children, hospitals, temples, and mosques,” he added.
He also announced compensatin of Rs 2 lakh to families whose homes were damaged in Pakistani shelling, while those with minor damages would be given Rs 1 lakh. This financial support is in addition to the compensation already provided, he added.
