'Terrorism breathing its last ...': PM Modi hails BJP's efforts in Jammu and Kashmir

PM Modi criticised "Pariwarwad" (dynastic politics) for hindering opportunities for young leaders in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting his government's efforts since 2014 to uplift and promote youth leadership in the region.

This rally marked PM Modi’s first visit to Doda in 42 years, with heightened security measures in place across the Doda and Kishtwar districts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a rally in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district, stated that terrorism is on its "last breath" in the region, attributing this to his government's efforts to counter dynastic politics and promote new leadership. He stated that dynastic politics had weakened Jammu and Kashmir, as political families prioritised their own children over fostering fresh leadership.

"We and you together will make Jammu and Kashmir a secure and prosperous part of the country," he said.

PM Modi positioned the upcoming assembly election as a critical contest between "three families"- Congress, the National Conference (NC), and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) - and the youth of the region. He accused these political dynasties of hindering the region's development and called their actions "no less than a sin".

"This time's assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir is between three families and the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. One family belongs to Congress, one family belongs to the National Conference and one family belongs to PDP...What these three families have done to you people in Jammu and Kashmir is no less than a sin," said the Prime Minister.

He further noted, "There was a time when the youth here were forced to go to other states of the country for better education. Today, be it medical college, AIIMS or IIT, the seats in Jammu Kashmir have grown manifold. Now, our BJP J&K unit has announced Pandit Premnath Dogra Rozgar Yojana. Under this, lakhs of new employment opportunities will be created here if BJP government is formed in the state. The youth going to college here will also be given a travelling allowance. BJP is going to make such a J&K that will be terror-free and will be a paradise for tourists... BJP government at the Centre is also strengthening connectivity here so that tourism can expand further and it becomes easier for you people to travel".

"I want every child in Jammu and Kashmir to have access to good education. Over the past few years, the BJP govt has inaugurated various schools and colleges in J&K for the betterment of the youth. The long-standing demand for a medical college in Doda was also fulfilled recently by the BJP govt," stated the Prime Minister.

PM Modi also criticised the influence of "Pariwarwad" (dynastic politics) for blocking opportunities for young leaders in Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that, since his government came to power in 2014, efforts have been made to uplift and promote the region's youth into leadership roles.

Addressing the people of Doda, PM Modi expressed his gratitude for their support, promising, "I will repay your love and blessings by working tirelessly for you and the country. Together, we will build a safe and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. This is Modi's guarantee."

This rally marked PM Modi’s first visit to Doda in 42 years, with heightened security measures in place across the Doda and Kishtwar districts. The event is seen as a key part of the BJP's campaign to boost support ahead of the assembly elections.

The elections will be held in three phases - on September 18, 25, and October 1 - with the results expected on October 8. This will be the first assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, making it a historic moment for the union territory.
