Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday asserted that the INDIA bloc will remove the 50 per cent reservation ceiling and dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to "do whatever he can".

"The caste census will change the face of India, reveal positions of tribals, Dalits, OBCs in institutions ... we will demolish the 50 per cent reservation ceiling ... PM Modi can do whatever he can," Rahul Gandhi said at a rally in Jharkhand's Godda.

Rahul has been calling for the removal of the existing 50 per cent cap on reservation, saying that it is necessary to protect the Constitution.

Rahul added that a caste census in India is bound to happen.

Stepping up his attack on the Prime Minister, Rahul accused him of spreading hatred in the society.

"Had PM Modi read Constitution, he would not have spread hatred or divided society," he said.

Rahul accused PM Modi of serving the interests of billionaires at the expense of India's poor.

He claimed that while the opposition bloc INDIA was fighting to protect the Constitution, the BJP was trying to dump it in the trash bin.

"It is a fight of ideology between the INDIA bloc and BJP-RSS. We are protecting the Constitution and BJP-RSS is trying to dump it in the trash bin. They are spreading violence and trying to divide society on the basis of caste, creed and religion," he alleged.

Gandhi said that though PM Modi speaks of his respect for the poor, but does not waive the farm loans.

Jharkhand is voting in two phases on November 13 and November 20. The counting of votes will be held on November 23.
