Replying to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Monday said the President in her speech missed all the vital points that garners the much-needed attention of a growing economy. The issue that occupies the topmost priority in that list is the issue of unemployment-- and the failure of successive government to provide a solution to that problem.

Speaking on the much-needed drivers of a modern, growing economy, Gandhi reiterated that manufacturing/ production forms the bedrock of an emerging economy. The LoP went on to say that the President's Address failed to provide a blueprint for the youth. "We have as a country failed in organizing production and handed it over to the Chinese," remarked Rahul.

"...Even though we have grown, we've grown fast, growing slightly slower now but we are growing. A universal problem that we have faced is that we have not been able to tackle the problem of unemployment. Neither the UPA govt nor today's NDA government has given a clear-cut answer to the youth of this country about employment." commented Gandhi.

Speaking about new-age technologies and how India must tap into the AI revolution, the LoP remarked: "People talk about AI, but it's important to understand that AI on its own is absolutely meaningless because AI operates on top of data. Without data, AI means nothing. And if we look at data today, there is one thing which is very clear. Every single piece of data that comes out of the production system in the world. The data that was used to make this phone, the data that is used to make electric cars. The data that is used to make basically all electronics on the planet today is owned by China."

According to the LoP, a fundamental difference between India and China in terms of manufacturing capabilities is China has at least a 10 year lead on India in this space. China has been working on batteries, robots, motors, optics for the last 10 years and we are behind...We would ensure that our banking system is not captured by 2-3 companies that basically do not allow you to build a production system, questioned the Congress leader.

The parliament proceedings started on Monday amid a ruckus from the opposition. The JPC report on the Waqf bill will be tabled in the parliament on Monday. The Jagdambika Pal-led committee submitted the report to the Lok Sabha speaker on Thursday.
