The proceedings of the Lok Sabha have been adjourned for the day after several Member of Parliament (MPs) were suspended for alleged unruly behaviour amid uproar over various issues on Tuesday.

Papers were allegedly flung in the House towards the Chair of Lok Sabha, following which Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju moved a resolution for suspension of some MPs from the Opposition which was passed by a voice note.

Eight Opposition MPs, iincluding Hibi Eden, Amarinder Singh Raja, Warring, Manickam Tagore, Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Kiran Kumar Reddy, Prashant Padole, S Venkatesan and Dean Kuriakose.y, have been suspended for the remainder of this session, reported news agency ANI.

Speaker in the Chair Dilip Saikia announced the suspension of Congress MPs from the Lok Sabha for 'unruly' behaviour.

After being suspended from the Lok Sabha for this session, Congress MP Prashant Yadaorao Padole told ANI, "they tried to suppress his voice and when we raised our voice against it, they suspended us".

"They suspend whoever speaks in the interests of the public. Congress leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi raised the issue that Parliament should be aware of the activities of other nations in our vicinity and our stand against it," he said.

Congress leaders led by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are protesting at Makar Dwar of the Parliament against the suspension of the MPs.

The LoP has been attempting to speak about former Army Chief MM Naravane 'unpublished memoir' since Monday which led to a fiery showdown in the House which continued on Tuesday.

BJP MP Anurag Thakur criticised the Opposition over their alleged conduct and said that pieces of paper were torn and thrown at the Chair.

Gandhi has not been allowed to speak about the memoir as Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla yesterday ruled that unpublished books cannot be quoted and asked him to speak on the Motion of Thanks by President Droupadi Murmu in the Budget session.

On Tuesday, when BJP leader Jagadambika Pal assumed the Chair in the House, he asked Gandhi to focus on developmental issues such as road and transport in the President's address.

Gandhi retorted to say that national security was more important to him as an issue and continued to attempt speak on Chinese troops and Indian army stand-off referring to the excerpt from the unpublished memoir of the former Army chief published in The Caravan on February 2.

After multiple adjournments the House was adjourned for 11 am today and now the proceedings have halted for the day.

Slamming the Opposition, Thakur claimed that from 2014 to 2026, the government has held discussions on all issues with an open mind, adding that Gandhi insulted democracy and the Parliament.

"A good discussion was ongoing on President's Address in the Parliament today as well. But LoP Rahul Gandhi insulted democracy and Parliament. He had just one intention -- to insult Indian soldiers. That is the only agenda Congress is left with," Thakur said.

He added, "When they felt that a fantastic Budget was presented, Opposition was left with nothing else to say. So, pieces of paper were torn and thrown at the Chair. What can be a bigger misfortune than this? An individual who doesn't know that permission needs to be obtained from the Speaker or Chairman to speak -- look at the arrogance."

According to him, this (the alleged conduct by Gandhi) is the arrogance of one party and one family. "This is the intoxication of power," he said.
