The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha will begin on June 24, said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju.
In the next Lok Sabha session, all elected MPs will also take an oath of office. Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha will be elected on June 26.
Following the start of the legislative session, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha will also be chosen. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its partners in the NDA are allegedly engaged in a hard bargain.
"First Session of 18th Lok Sabha is being summoned from June 24 to July 3 for oath/affirmation of newly elected members, election of Speaker, President’s address and discussion thereon. The 264th session of the Rajya Sabha will commence on June 27 and conclude on July 3," Rijiju said.
The first three days of the session will see the newly elected leaders taking oath or making affirmation of their membership of the Lok Sabha and electing the Speaker of the House. On July 3, the session will come to an end.
On June 27, President Droupadi Murmu will address a joint session of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. It is anticipated that he would present the new government's five-year plan.
On June 27, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to present his Cabinet to the Parliament following the President's speech.
During the Motion of Thanks discussion on the President's speech, a forceful opposition is anticipated to attempt to corner the NDA administration on a number of subjects. The discussion in both the Houses of Parliament on the Motion of Thanks for the President's address will be addressed by the prime minister.
