The Dharavi Assembly constituency is one of the 10 Assembly constituencies in the Mumbai City district. The area houses one of the largest slums in the world and is a part of Mumbai South Central Lok Sabha constituency.

Dharavi has emerged as a key campaign talking point in the intense Maharashtra Assembly polls, with the BJP-led Mahayuti and Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi trading arguments over its future.

The Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP) has become a central campaign issue, with the MVA targeting the BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, while attacking PM Modi over his 'Ek hai toh safe hai' slogan in Maharashtra, created a link between the slogan and the Dharavi redevelopment project being given to the Adani Group. He took out two posters, one featuring a picture of industrialist Gautam Adani and PM Modi with the caption "Ek hai toh Safe hai", and another showing a map of the project.

Meanwhile, chief minister Eknath Shinde said that the Congress leader is spreading false information of thr project which is likely to benefit around two lakh people. “He has given the wrong information regarding Dharavi. 2 lakh people will be getting homes in Dharavi,” said Shinde calling it the biggest project of Asia.
