The death toll from the outbreak in India is at 3,435. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Delhi have reported the highest number of cases.

Maharashtra's coronavirus tally crosses 41,000-mark; 64 new deaths
Maharashtra on Thursday recorded as many as 2,345 new coronavirus cases, taking the tally in the state to 41,642, a health official said.
With 64 fatalities due to the pandemic reported during the day, 41 of them in the worst-hit city of Mumbai, the death toll in the state rose to 1,454, the official said.

The TamilNadugovernment has permitted indoor shooting for television serials in non-containment areas.
According to the May 21 order by TamilNadugovernment, television content creators can resume work but with safety and precautions. Conditions and restrictions have also been laid which includes crew control, choosing safe location, among others.
A shooting set cannot have more than 20 people including artistes and technicians.

Addressing a press conference a day after he announced that domestic flight operations will start in a calibrated manner from May 25, Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on May 21 clarified that the middle seats of the airplane will not be kept vacant.
"Middle seats on flights will not be kept vacant because even if that is done the necessary social distancing norms will not be met," Puri said, adding that nowhere in the world is the "option of keeping the middle seat vacant an option which anybody has seriously pursued."

Earlier today, Apple and Google released the Exposure Notification API that can be used in contact tracing apps for tracking COVID-19 cases. The contact-tracing tool, however, is incompatible with India’s Aarogya Setu.
Aarogya Setu uses location data as a mode to track and trace individuals infected with the novel coronavirus. This is one of the key reasons why the Apple and Google Exposure Notification API tool will not work with the app.

BMC to acquire 100 beds of private hospitals in each Mumbai ward
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has directed civic officials to acquire at least 100 beds, including 10 in ICUs, of private nursing homes and small hospitals in all 24 wards of Mumbai.
The financial hub recorded 1,372 new COVID-19 cases and 41 deaths yesterday. The tally of cases in Mumbai thus reached 23,935 and death toll rose to 841.

United States’ President Donald Trump has said that the regimen of anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) that he is taking to ward off COVID-19 will finish in the next day or two.
