Eid 2023 Bank Holiday: Banks will be closed in Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

Eid 2023 Bank Holiday: Banks will remain closed for Eid-E-Milad on September 27 and 28 (depending on states). Those planning a bank visit are advised to check for bank's closure schedules. Online banking services will be available for transactions, to check balances, and other necessary financial tasks one may have to do during the two days.

The Reserve Bank of India puts banks bank holidays in three categories — Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act; Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holidays; and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.

States where banks will be shut on September 27 and September 28

September 27: Milad-i-Sherif (Birthday of Prophet Muhammed) Banks in Jammu and Kerala will be closed.

September 28: Eid-E-Milad/Eid-e-Meeladunnabi – (Prophet Mohammad’s Birthday) (Bara Vafat) Banks will be closed in Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

September 29: Indrajatra/Friday following Eid-i-Milad-ul-Nabi. Banks will be closed in Sikkim, and Jammu and Srinagar

September had 16 bank holidays in 2023.

Bank holidays in October 2023

There will be 11 bank holidays in October this year. Banks will remain closed across India on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. Other holidays include Mahalaya (October 14), Kati Bihu (October 18), Durga Puja (Maha Saptami) (October 21), Dusshera (Mahanavami)/Ayudha Pooja/Durga Puja/Vijaya Dasami (October 23), Dussehra/Dusshera (Vijaya Dashmi)/Durga Puja (October 24), Durga Puja (Dasain) (October 25), Durga Puja (Dasain)/Accession Day (October 26), Durga Puja (Dasain) (October 26), Lakshmi Puja (October 28), and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Birthday (October 31).
