As the world gears up to welcome 2026, there is renewed focus on setting fresh financial goals and making informed fiscal decisions. In India, one key tool that helps individuals and businesses plan their banking activities is the annual bank holiday calendar. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released its 2026 calendar, detailing a city-wise list of days when banks-both public and private sector-will remain closed.

Throughout the year, banks will be shut on multiple occasions due to national holidays, regional festivals, and the mandatory second and fourth Saturday closures observed every month. While certain holidays such as Republic Day, Independence Day, and Gandhi Jayanti are observed nationwide, several others-including Maha Shivaratri, Ugadi, Bakrid, Janmashtami, Diwali, and Christmas-are state-specific, leading to variations in bank holidays across regions.
