If you’re planning a visit to the bank in January 2026, a little advance planning can save you the trouble. According to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) holiday calendar, bank branches in several states will remain closed on multiple days during the month due to a mix of festivals, regional observances and national holidays.

The number of holidays will vary from state to state, but in some places, banks could be shut for up to 10–12 days, factoring in Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays, and holidays declared under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

That said, most digital banking services — including UPI, mobile banking and internet banking — will continue to work as usual. However, customers may face delays in branch-dependent services such as cheque clearances, cash transactions and paperwork-related banking on these days.
